一昔前、フィリピンパブが一世を風靡、多くのフィリピン人が興行ビザで来日しました。興行ビザ＝芸能ビザ、エンターテイメントビザとも呼ばれ、ミュージシャン、モデル、プロスポーツ選手、ショーダンサーなどが、日本で報酬を得て活動する場合に必要なビザです。
かつては、多くのフィリピン人がこの興行ビザを取得し、フィリピンパブで働いていましたが、人身売買の温床になり得るという国際的な非難を受け、運用を厳格にする動きがあり、現在、フィリピンパブで働いているフィリピン人の大半は、日本人と結婚した者（配偶者ビザ）や、永住権をもって在留している者になっています。留学生やオーバーステイの外国人を働かせているなどでも、しばしば問題となります。
ショーダンサーとして興行ビザを取得し、来日したとしても、興行ビザは接待行為（客と談笑したり、ドゥエットすること）を禁止しているため、キャバクラ等で働くことはできません。また、短期滞在ビザで来日する場合であっても、原則、報酬を得る活動を伴う場合は、興行ビザを取得する必要があります。

A decade ago, Philippine pub was so popular night spot all over in Japan. So-called “Entertainer” visa, many Filipino girls came to Japan to grab the “Japanese dream”.
With the international criticism mounting from the aspect of human trafficking, the number of Filipino girls coming to Japan with entertainer visa had started decreasing.
Currently, most Filipino girls working in Philippine pub are either those who married with Japanese or those with permanent visa. Sometimes police find those who are working illegally like international students or overstayers.
Sometimes it is misunderstood, for example, musician come to Japan with temporary visitor visa for music live festival. But basically, temporary visitor visa is not working visa. So, if the musicians work in Japan even in a short period of time, entertainer visa is appropriate visa choice.
